Parent/Staff Governor Elections

We are currently holding elections for 2 Parent Governors. We have had three parents nominated for the vacancies. Please see all candidates pen portraits below.

Damien Mansell - Parent Newton St Cyres Primary School

As senior lecturer in Geography I can contribute expertise to the Governor team, having published work on teaching practices including appropriate use of technology enabled learning. I am executive trustee of ‘Learning On Screen’ so am familiar running a successful educational business. In my teaching I incorporate the United Nations Sustainability Goals and can advise the school on how to incorporate these, inspiring and educating our children to ensure a cleaner, sustainable future. As a parent I am invested in the school success, teaching ethos, social development and creating memories and experiences that will stay with our children for life.

 

Sophie Dunn - Parent Newton St Cyres Primary School

I have been a parent governor since November 2015, and have served as Chair of the School Improvement Committee and Vice Chair of the board. My roles have included looking at the Curriculum and currently at Early Years provision, ensuring that we provide a safe, happy, inspiring environment for the youngest children. I have built a good working relationship with senior leaders and feel confident to ask challenging questions as well as providing support to the staff team. Professionally, I work in music education, and am particularly interested in making sure that children can access high quality arts activities.

 

Louise Walsh - Parent Thorverton Primary School

I have been a parent governor for EVF for 2 years and would like to continue in the role, and continue to support the wok of the federation as it expands to include SIlverton. I am currently a member of the Resources committee helping to ensure the best use of our funds across all of the schools.
