Vision and Ethos

 Our school ethos statement:

We aim to enable each child to achieve their full potential in a positive, challenging, nurturing, Christian community.

Our Core Christian Values:

  • Trust
  • Thankfulness
  • Forgiveness
  • Friendship
  • Compassion
  • Endurance
  • Koinonia

 Aims of the school:

  • Have a happy, secure and safe learning environment where quality learning can take place;
  • Have clear expectations for both behaviour and respect for one another;
  • Provide a stimulating and challenging learning environment that aims to develop the whole child in relation to the world around them;
  • For all children to reach their full potential through a rich, stimulating and balanced curriculum;
  • Continually reflect and raise standards by developing high-quality resources, which match the children’s learning needs;
  • Offer open and supportive leadership in developing the school community with the aim of promoting the values of the school.

Federation vision statement:

In February 2016 the leadership team invited members of staff to join an action team to revise the federation’s vision statement. The previous vision statement had a strong strapline but did not have a supporting statement to explain it and did not reflect the new vision of the federation’s leadership team to inspire children to develop a growth mindset. The action team reviewed the recently completed parent questionnaire and the views of other members of staff in creating a new vision statement and three word strapline, CHALLENGE, DISCOVER, SUCCEED.

This was supplemented with a statement that encapsulates the ambition and drive of the leadership team to create schools where there is challenge and support for learning. The wording was considered carefully and distilled into the following statement:

In a creative, caring environment, we all support and challenge each other to develop confidence and independence. By exploring different choices, we are inspired to discover and succeed in lifelong learning.

The new strapline and the supporting statement have been incorporated into the new EVF logo and appears on all official documents, including policies. This statement was referred to during the consultation period with Brampford Speke School as part of the EVF’s vision and an understanding of the importance of this statement is part of the agreement to join the federation. The vision statement is reviewed annually by the leadership team during the process of writing a new development plan.

 British Values:

Brampford Speke C of E Primary School upholds a strong, Christian ethos which is demonstrated through effective relationships. It fully meets the requirements for collective worship and provides a comprehensive SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) education for all its pupils. This occurs through a carefully planned curriculum and rolling programme and a series of special events to help provide development and understanding.
